British Recce and signals light truck (2 kits) with 5 crew. The British army were the first to take the American 4x4 Jeep into battle in North Africa in 1941, They found it far superior to the light trucks previously used and it soon came to the attention of British airborne forces. Its power, light weight and small size made it ideal for a variety of roles, and it could be easily fitted into a medium sized glider. For the airborne role, all equipment not deemed essential was removed to lighten the vehicle as much as possible.
For the Reconnaissance role the Jeep was armed with the .303 Vickers K machine gun, this was previously used on bi-plane fighters of the 1930's and could fire 1,200 rounds per minute. This was double the firepower of a normal machine gun in use at this time. They were also fitted with a No.22 wireless set, which was the standard radio set used on vehicles and tanks. The Jeeps were carried in the Airspeed AS.51 or AS.58 Horsa Glider, the load being
1 x Jeep with equipment, stores and crew. Jeeps were deployed during the D-Day landings 6 June 1944, Operation Market Garden in September 1944, and Operation Plunder in March 1945.They generally performed well, the Jeeps were versatile and could be used in other roles such as gun tractors were required. Many Jeeps were retained by the Parachute Regiment and were used post-war in the Far East to restore order after the Japanese surrender. In
Palestine they were used in policing operations 1945-48. After WWII the gliders were phased out and Jeeps were dropped by parachute, they remained in service until the late 1950's.

Delivery
Delivery is charged as priced on each order. Once you have placed an order it will usually be dispatched the same day or the next day depending on the time the order was placed. Orders usually need to be received before 1.30 pm for same day dispatch.
If you wish to cancel your order after it has been dispatched, you will be charged for both delivery and collection cost. You will also need to pay any return costs if you wish to be refunded for your purchase (but not the original delivery costs).
Most orders will dispatched using a tracked system. Please make sure you enter your e mail address and mobile number on your order to receive text notifications.
If there is no one available when our delivery partner tries to deliver your order, they will usually try to deliver again the next working day or they will drop a card in to offer you a collection from a local collection point. If you should refuse delivery of goods, or are not available to accept the delivery on both delivery attempts, you will be required to cover any extra costs incurred.
Royal Mail staff and couriers sometimes leave parcels with a neighbour or in an outbuilding or at the rear or side of the property. If a parcel is too large to go through the letter box Royal Mail may return it to the local sorting office (not the local Post Office) but may not leave a card advising you. First Class may take up to 4 days and second class up to 10 days delivery time. Please check there first before reporting non delivery. Tracked deliveries will be 24 or 48 hour but may take longer especially around a bank holiday.
All quoted delivery prices are for most UK Mainland addresses. Northern Ireland (BT), Isle of Wight (PO30-37), Isle of Man (IM), Scottish Highlands and Orkney Isles (PA, ML, EH, KA, G, KY, PH, DD, AB, IV, KW), Outer Hebrides and the Shetland Isles (HS, ZE), Channel Islands (JE and GY) will incur additional charges and may also experience delivery delays.
We will only deliver goods to the address on the order.
We are closed on Wednesdays, Sundays and bank holidays so do not ship on these days.
Due to postal restrictions we are unable to send liquids, batteries including Lipo/Life and aerosol products by Royal Mail. These have to be sent by courier as they have to go by road. We do not send fuel.
