Loco Repair Service
Loco won’t go? Don’t despair – We can repair!
Here at Stockton Modeller we can carry out mechanical and electrical repairs to OO and N gauge locos. We can also supply and fit DCC decoders of various makes when available. We do not do bodywork, weathering or re-numbering.
We are Hornby authorised service dealers, but we can do repairs to most other makes.
It’s impossible to give you an estimate of costs until we see what the problem is and what parts may be needed. We charge on a time basis plus parts supplied, plus return postage using a tracked service. Whilst we manage to repair over 90% of locos brought to us there is the odd one which may not be possible. It may be that parts are not available or that the cost of the repair is not economic. If that is the case we will advise you accordingly.
Prices start from £30 including VAT for a basic clean and lubrication service on a working loco plus return postage. Problems and parts cost extra!
If you would like us to see if we can resurrect your favourite loco please call us on 01642 616 680 between 10 am and 2.30 pm Monday to Saturday (except Bank holidays) to discuss your requirements.
If you decide you would like us to repair your loco, please complete the Model Railway Repair Form and either bring your locos to us , Stockton Models Ltd, 8 Three Tuns Wynd, Stokesley, Middlesbrough TS9 5DQ or send them in the post, enclosing the completed form. We recommend using a tracked service and we will then acknowledge receipt upon their arrival.
Completion of repairs depends on whether any parts are needed and sourcing them. Otherwise, a straightforward service should be able to be completed fairly quickly.
The Model Railway Repair Form can be found here. Click to download the form.
Warranty Repairs
If you believe the loco which requires repair is still under the Manufacturer’s warranty, please contact us as it may need to be sent back to the Manufacturer rather than be repaired by ourselves. You will need to produce proof of a purchase date to verify the warranty period has not expired.
